Generally Cruisin' Update

Hello Friends and Family!
Since our last update we’ve dealt with torrential downpours, no internet access and now, with the coronavirus prompting stay at home initiatives and the closing of non-essential businesses, limited mobility…let’s just say we now have a lot of time on our hands.
First and foremost, we want to update that we’re safe, in good health and will be posting some of our adventures later to, hopefully, provide some entertainment during this time of shut in.
We visited Las Vegas early in March before everything was shutdown…we feel fortunate that we were able to spend some time with our son who was there for a work function. Looking back, I wish we weren’t so cavalier with our interactions on the strip and in the casinos, but we had a good time, nonetheless. As this was my first visit to Las Vegas I was truly blown away at the excitement in the air and while we didn’t strike it rich, we also didn’t lose our shorts…as a team, Dana and I, more or less, broke even.
From Las Vegas we traveled to Acton, CA and stayed at a Thousand Trails campground (more on this later) called Soledad Canyon for two weeks. We discovered, rather quickly, that the Verizon reception was awful. Day 2 we considered moving but through some trial and error we found reliable reception by placing a phone on the roof of the RV. Hmm...are we sleeping under the stars for the remainder of the stay?
Side note: We didn’t realize how connected we really are until there is no ability to connect; phone calls wouldn’t go through and even text messages were delayed.
So…what did we do? We used an old cell phone, with a prepaid account, and mounted it as high in the RV as possible. With this we were able to connect through it (similarly to a mobile hotspot) and be content with the connectivity knowing this was a short-term problem, BUT I am researching a better and more permanent solution.
From Acton, CA we headed to Ramona, CA and what a beautiful area we discovered this to be. We initially had reservations for a week but after the California Governor announced a nonessential business shutdown the day after our arrival we decided to stay for a month. Not even two weeks into the extended stay the nonessential business shutdown and stay at home initiative was extended to April 30th and with receiving notice our next reservation for mid-April was canceled we, in turn, extended our stay…again…for another month. It’s not so bad, we have a nice neighbor that will be here during our stay, a mini lake in our backyard with fish, turtles, ducks, egrets and a fountain providing some nice white noise. Maybe, we’ll take up bird watching 😊
Two months in one location…that’s not what this adventure is supposed to be but, currently, we feel it’s the correct move.
What’s next?
Well, we have some household chores we’ve been putting off….so, I guess that’s on the list.
Stay tuned for our future posts and please be safe everyone!!
