Hi friends! We hope everyone had a peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving holiday!

Some of our recent adventures are below - thanks for continuing to check in with us. We're still working on timing of posts (obviously)! ;0)

So our last update was from Alamogordo - while still planted there. The weather finally did cooperate and we were able to explore not only the White Sands National Monument but also the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site.

Let's start with White Sands....words cannot express the confusion in my brain as we were traveling along "Dunes Drive" to the heart of the 275 square miles of brilliant white gypsum sand dunes! Looks like snow....but it's sand (as I had to keep reminding myself).

As we ventured further along the road, the views of the background Andres Mountains were breathtaking and humbling. We, of course, found various spots to get out, walk, and take pictures. I even attempted a "sand angel" lol....

(Please note....I'm trying a new photo layout below called "slider" - so please scroll - don't click - right to view the picture gallery)

Now onto the Three Rivers Petroglyphs. Nestled in the Three Rivers Valley, these examples of prehistoric Native American art work were fascinating to view and (attempt) to interpret....rriigghhtt. ;0) When visiting, folks walk up a somewhat rugged trail - but with all of the opportunities to stop and take pictures of interesting art - it felt more like meandering than hiking.

Obviously it is understood that this artwork was an attempt by the Native Americans to tell a/their story. We saw etchings of animals, birds, interesting images and, we swear, what looks like an alien spaceship! (Alamogordo isn't that far from Roswell....just sayin' lol!) We even saw an etching that Jason named the "Court Jester" - who is, um, anatomically correct. We had a beautiful, partly cloudy day and pictures do NOT do justice to the awe-inspiring panoramic views from the top with two mountain ranges framing the Valley. Amazing day of nature and history.

Finally, we just HAD to stop at the site of the largest pistachio in the world!

Thanks again for reading about our time in Alamogordo! Remember to subscribe to our blog to receive updates, as well as follow us on "Insta, the Twitta, and FB"!

Next stop to report - Silver City, NM. Stay tuned for that - within the next couple of days, I promise!
